INTI Career Week
Why students should consider a career in an FMCG company.
I have attended the Colgate Malaysia workshop about why students should consider a career in an FMCG company. They are more than 2 valuable insight or point that I have learned when attending the talk. But first what is the meaning of the FMCG industry? FMCG is just a short form for fast-moving consumer goods are items that are affordable and sell quickly. According to Kantara research on the top 50 FMCG brands shows that Colgate Palmolive is ranked second out of 50 FMCG brands that household goods will be chosen by the consumer. This means that the FMCG industry is stable as is growing bigger and fast moving in the future.
There is a good point that I have learned is that this industry because the FMCG industry is also innovative. Colgate Palmolive started out by producing bar soap and candles now producing more than different categories of items like oral to household care products. At the moment Colgate Palmolive Malaysia is entering the beauty care categories by releasing its new teeth whitening pen and electrical toothbrushes. The second point is that The FMCG industry always thinks digitally. With the rapidly changing economy, digitalization is the new leading trend that all industry needs to focus more as it has changed a lot of traditional ways of business process to a digital version. Every industry needs to keep up with the last trends to be successful and compete with other FMCG brands. Colgate Palmolive has increased its digital marking department from 6 people to 18 people now due to the covid 19 pandemic has caused the rise of e-commerce in the digital marketing trends. As well as creating more divisions in the digital marking department like content creation and more.
INTI Leadership Series
The 2 thing that I have learned in the ILS talk by Gonzalo Izazaga the head of global finance service APAC of AstraZeneca is a leader need to appreciate every individual for whom they are by value, seeking out and leveraging our differences to archive their goals. For a leader to achieve diversity they have to know themself and know their teams and colleagues. For example, to have emotional intelligence is the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships.
The second thing that I have learned is that if people who understand BIAS, who is hungry to learn and succeed, to accept challenges, to develop share knowledge collaborate, and understand the needs of others, always with a positive attitude. This means that when a person likes to learn how others' cultures and religious customs, they will have the trend of leading others in a diverse company and team members as they know the needs of their team members from different races. As diversity is a fact that the full range of differences and similarities make each individual unique.
